EXODUS

EXODUS Second book of the Bible, in Exodus we are presented with the story of Moses and the account of the Israelites' departure from Egypt in search of the Promised Land. Led by Moses, the people leave behind a life of slavery, following the belief in God and a better life. The writing of this book is attributed to Moses. Throughout the 40 chapters of the book, we can follow Moses' attempt to convince Pharaoh to release the Israelites. Faced with this request, the pharaoh increases the pressure on the people, causing God to impose 10 plagues on the pharaoh and the Egyptians, the “Plagues of Egypt”. At the tenth plague, all the oldest children in Egyptian families would die. However, the Israeli families sacrificed lambs and placed the blood on the doors of their homes, preventing the angel of death from entering. This event was considered the first Easter. With the death of his firstborn, Pharaoh lets the Israelites go. In order to save the people, Moses, accompanied by his brother Aaron, leads liberation through the desert. Meanwhile, Pharaoh changes his decision and decides to pursue the people, leading the Israelites to be trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army. God opens the Red Sea and the Israelites cross safely. After walking through the desert, everyone arrives at Mount Sinai. God makes a covenant with the people, and thus dictates the Ten Commandments to Moses. Moses also leads the people in building the Tabernacle, a tent used as a temple for the Jews. The book of Exodus shows us important events, since the life of Moses, the departure of the people from Egypt in search of the Promised Land, God's covenant with the Israelites and the institution of the Ten Commandments.
